The Anglo-Nordic Life Science Conference is an annual event arranged in London, UK, where selected companies and venture capitalists are invited to meet and present during a couple of days. GraftCraft were happy to be invited, and participated on the conference the 22nd-23rd of April. GraftCraft were also interviewed by PharmaTV (see picture).
House of Sweden is an establishment in Washington D.C., USA aiming to show the culture, industry and opportunities in Sweden. Currently, the Exhibition Hall displays “Earth & Space 2015”, where subjects such as space technology and the resources of earth are covered. The Unravelling Stent is featured as an example of how traditional materials from earth such as metal can be used with novel production techniques as knitting to create a unique medical device.
During Stockholm Fashion Week, Swedish steel and metal organization Jernkontoret presented new and innovative ways of using metals. The Unravelling Stent was used as one example of how knitted metal wire can have medical applications.
The first week of December, Smart Textiles was invited by the Swedish Foreign Ministry as keynote speaker during at Asia’s leading design event, Business of Design Week in Hong Kong. Smart Textiles had the opportunity to showcase their activities for 100,000 visitors, and one of the projects that was demonstrated was Unravelling Stent.

The unravelling stent has been tested in an animal study conducted at St Olavs Hospital Trondheim, Norway, and no significant scar tissue formation was identified.
This year, Unravelling Stent will be presented at a textile innovation seminar during the Almedal Week (Almedalsveckan). The seminar is arranged by West Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Borås City and the University of Borås, to show the Swedish export opportunities within the smart textiles area.

In December 2013, animal studies was initiated in sheep at St Olav’s Hospital to investigate if the Unravelling Stent causes less restenosis compared to traditional stents if implanted in the iliac artery. Male sheep has been used for this study.
From January 2014, project manager Emma Wejedal is recruited to the GraftCraft management. Emma has her background in bioengineering and entrepreneurship, with start-up experience from Monivent.
In November 2013, it was announced that the GraftCraft project Unravelling Stent will receive the VINN Verifiering grant from VINNOVA, the Swedish Innovation Agency.
During the Almi competition ” Pitch your idea “, the Unravelling Stent project was named winner. The goal of the competition was to pitch the project idea within five minutes, with the chance to win a development grant for its innovation.
GraftCraft AB has been situated in the Borås Incubator since the spring of 2013, and will now follow the incubator to their new facilities in the newly constructed Textile Fashion Centre in Borås.
